Call for Paper

The CORIA conference is the main conference of the Francophone IR community, sponsored by the ARIA (Association francophone de Recherche d’Information et Applications). CORIA 2017 will be held in March 29-31 in Marseille.

CORIA aims to gather researchers working on different topics in the area of IR: information retrieval on the web or on another collection, information extraction from multimedia documents, opinion mining and social networks, monolingual or multilingual IR, search of digitized documents and images, machine learning and classification, human-machine interfaces for information access, etc.

IR witnessed a big evolution in the web age. The evolution continues due to the developments in mobile computing, management and analysis of big data and deep learning. The domain of IR itself is also evolving, requiring more collaborative work from other areas: machine learning, NLP, image processing, automatic speech recognition, communication, information systems and databases, knowledge representation and management, and so on. The application domains are numerous, covering the whole web, or specific areas such as digital libraries, specialized document collections and social networks.

CORIA is open to the whole scientific community relating to IR. The target participants of CORIA 2017 are academic and industrial researchers working in the area, as well as students.

Although CORIA is a conference of the francophone community, the conference welcomes non francophone participants. Submissions can be made either in French or in English.

Themes

CORIA covers (but is not limited to) the following topics:

  • Theory and formal models for IR: logic models, probabilistic models, document and query representation, models based on machine learning
  • Query understanding: search intent, query suggestion, conversational IR
  • NLP for IR
  • Question-answering
  • IR in mobile environments
  • Multilinguism: multilingual IR, machine translation
  • Scaling up and big data: indexing, compression, efficiency, architecture
  • Machine learning methods: classification, filtering and recommender systems, clustering, learning-to-rank, deep learning
  • Information extraction: ontologies, resources for IR, detection of named entities and relations
  • Web analysis: big graphs, topology of the web, power law, citations, link analysis
  • Semantic IR: ontology, semantic web, internet of things
  • IR and structured documents: IR and XML, precision-oriented IR, passage retrieval
  • Social networks: analysis of social networks, of rumors and opinions, information diffusion, event detection and prediction, …
  • User interaction: flexible querying, interfaces, visualization, user and context modeling, accessibility, collaborative indexing, personalized IR
  • Multimedia (images, audio, videos, sound, music): indexing, navigation, access, …
  • Digital libraries: IR of digitized books, robustness, OCR and indexability
  • Specialized IR: search of genomic, geographic, medical, patent and product information
  • Tools for IR: evaluation, test collections, metrics, qualitative evaluation, open source

Rencontres Jeunes Chercheurs

Co-located at CORIA 2017, RJC (Rencontres de Jeunes Chercheurs) in IR will also be organized. RJC aims to allow research students to present their research problems, to meet researchers working on the same or similar problems, and to provide a summary of the most current research projects to the whole community. The selected papers at RJC will be presented orally or by poster.

Paper submission

Papers can be written in French or in English. They should be anonymized, without any mention allowing reviewers to identify the authors. Recently published or accepted work can also be submitted, provided that this does not violate copyrights and the work is properly adapted to CORIA.

The submissions can be about academic research or industrial applications. The submissions should not exceed 16 pages for CORIA and 10 pages for RJC.

Double submissions to CORIA and RJC are allowed. In that case, the paper should be submitted to both CORIA and RJC. In case that the paper is finally accepted by CORIA, it is limited to 16 pages. If it is accepted by RJC, it should be reduced to 10 pages.

Submissions should be formatted according to Hermès journal style. Style templates in Word/Open Office and Latex can be found at the following link:

Submissions should be in PDF. The first page is a cover page. It should contain the title of the paper, a summary in English and in French, as well as a list of keywords (both in English and in French).

The mention “article submitted to CORIA and RJC” should appear on the cover page in case of double submission to CORIA and RJC.

Submissions should be in PDF on easy chair at the following link:

Specific requirements for submissions to RJC: The authors should contain at least one Master degree or PhD student who has not graduated or graduated less than a year ago. The goal of RJC is to present the research plan and results of students. Each submission to RJC has to be notified by the supervisor through an email sent to the PC chair of RJC, indicating the students among the authors, as well as their current status (in what Master degree or PhD program, which year, or the planned defense date).

Submissions should be in PDF on easy chair at the following link:

Registration

Registration to the ARIA association

Be careful, in order to participate to CORIA you must be registered to the ARIA association ! This is mandatory !

Registrations to the ARIA association are available on the official website, or directly by the application form.

ARIA’s grant for CORIA 2017Sold out

The ARIA association offered grants to its members to attend to CORIA 2017.

The main purpose was to make possible for students, PhD students, or young doctors who have an interest for the work of the community to attend to the conference. The personnal situations (specially financial ones) were taken into account.

Caution : this grant only covers the registration to the conference. Mission fees still are due from the laboratory of the appliant.

The grants are sold out. You cannot apply for it anymore.
